Challenge yourself to write in a style new to you.

“Write a special interest song, like a march, anthem, holiday song, lullaby, theme song, school song, or jingle” -- Peter Berryman

Between the title and the quote, this is fairly self-explanatory. Go somewhere you never have before. Is all of your poetry high art? Maybe it’s time for you to write some light verse? Is all of your poetry non-lyrical? Time to write a song, even if you have to borrow the music and change the words. Break the chains that bind you by doing something you thought you’d never do.
