Many traditions have magical spells in rhyming verse. The first spell mentioned in the Harry Potter books is a rhymed quatrain. That spell doesn’t work, but that’s another story. Another fantasy series by Piers Anthony had the main character as the Blue Wizard who created magic through poetry. In many ways, poetry is a form of magic, a distillation of words to convey meaning that might include deep emotions or light laughs or both. That’s not even to get into the Druidic and Bardic traditions or other histories linking poetry with magic.
