Broaden your scope II.

There are many specialty publications for poetry. By writing a wide variety of poetry and using many forms, you’ll be more likely to fit a publication’s profile. For instance, Poetry Renewal only publishes formal poetry. If all you write is free verse, you will never be published here. Another magazine, American Tanka, only publishes tanka. That is one form for the whole magazine. There are similar magazines devoted to ghazals, haiku, and other forms. There are magazines for serious poetry and for light verse. The more variation in what you write and the forms you write in, the more publication possibilities you have.
