Light Verse

Type:

Style

Description:

Verse that is intended to be humorous and light. Most of the forms of light verse are short forms of four or five lines and not stanzaic.

Impressions:

It never gets the respect it deserves. It often uses the triple rhythms in English, such as dactylic, anapestic, or amphibrachic.
